The Peak District, which was England’s first designated National Park, comprises parts of Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire. It includes the Dark Peak, made up mainly of gritstone, and the White Peak, a limestone area with valleys and gorges. Some 20 million people live within an hour’s drive of the Peak District.
